You're Going to Weep With the Willow

song lyrics by Janet Jones

This song (lyrics and music) was written by Janet Jones, who lived on the same dorm floor I did my freshman year (1963) at U C Davis. I really liked the song and her delivery of it, accompanying herself on the guitar.
While I'm pretty sure that by "faith" she was referring to religious faith, the sone can equally refer to having courage in the face of adversity and confidence that you will surmount that adversity, ie having faith in yourself.
I have no idea where Janet is today, so no way to ask her permission. Maybe I can track her down through the UCD Alumni association ? I would hope she conttinued to write and sing, because she had real talent.

You're Going to Weep With the Willow

by Janet Jones , © 1963 (or earlier)

You're going to weep with the willow and fall with the star,
You're going to look all around you and wonder where you are.
You'll find the light of day can be the dark of night,
But when you find your faith in life your world will be bright.

So learn from the willow that tears must always fall,
And learn from the willow that tears will make you tall.
The willow knows that with the wind he must always bend,
For through a storm he keeps his faith that grief will surely end.

You're going to weep with the willow and fall with the star,
You're going to look all around you and wonder where you are.
You're going to go for a short walk and find youo'vegone too far.
You'll find that your tommorrow will be another day,
And see how the dark rain clouds will soon be blown away.
