Hark, the Schutzhund Bouvie's Revier ! |
This is a song about an edict of the American Kennel Club, circa 1990, in which all member clubs were prohibited from sponsoring any competition in which it was acceptable or encouraged for a dog to show any degree of aggression towards a human being. In particular the AKC had in mind clubs that sponsored Police K9 Trials or Schutzhund Trials or the American Temperment Testing Society;s Temperment Test

HARK, THE SCHUTZHUND BOUVIES' REVIER !(to tune of "Hark the Herald Angels Sing !")by Pam Green, copyright 1990Hark, the Schutzhund Bouvies' revier ! "AKC is no Believer !" In the cause of dogs who bite. AKC takes no delight. To all tests of "man-agression" AKC has ruled supression. "Vicious" all who find it thrilling : Fangs in Sleeve or Ringsuit drilling ! But , united , we can tell AKC to go to Hell ! Let rebellion's chorus swell : AKC can go to Hell ! Hark, the Schutzhund Bouvies' revier ! "AKC is the Deceiver !" On "usefulness of dog to man", AKC decrees this Ban : Clubs who test dogs in protection Get the ultimate rejection, Total Excommunication For their insubordination But , united , we can tell AKC to go to Hell ! Let rebellion's chorus swell : AKC can go to Hell ! Hark the Schutzhund Bouvie's revier ! "To the AKC, 'nol viva' ! " We who value dogs' attendance Now Declare our Independence ! In the course of canine events, AKC has lost its credence. Let a candid dog world judge us. AKC's threats cannot budge us. And , united , we can tell AKC to go to Hell ! Hear rebellion's chorus swell: AKC can go to Hell ! Bite in defense, bite in prey, Glory to the Bouvier ! On the street to make my day, Glory to the Bouvier ! On the sportsfield just for play, Glory to the Bouvier ! Glor-or-ory to the Bouvier ! footnote: "nol viva !" = let it not live ! |
