My Canine's Teeth Are Nothing Like The Shark's
by Pam Green , © 7/14/2023
(sonnet 130)
My Canines' teeth are nothing like the shark's
Thor's thunder doth sound louder than their barks
if hairs be wires, yet wires be not shed
upon my floor, my sofa, and my bed.
black as midnight, stormcloud grey, or golden wheat,
coat color similes are but a crude conceit
eyes be not amber fossiled from a tree,
but yet a canine soul that gazeth back at me.
I grant when birds do fly, they me astound.
My canines when they move tread on the ground
yet my dogs' virtues, when I think upon it,
exceed what any Bard describes in sonnet.
