This came to me one day when we got a few sprinkles. Here in California , we've had two years of very low rainfall and we greatly need a high rainfall winter.
 
        

I'm Hoping for a Wet Winter

I'm hoping for a wet winter
Just like the ones we used to know
With the rivers flowing
And snow pack growing
Recharging the acquifers below

I'm hoping for a wet winter
And as I celebrate Samhain
I'll be chanting pleas, please not in vain,
Petitioning a plentitude of rain.

I'm hoping for a wet winter
With ev'ry check I write my vet
May your pets not keep you in debt
And may this next winter be quite wet.

I'm hoping for a wet winter
Though it is long odds on that bet
Despite global warming, I hope yet
That at least this next winter might be wet.
