Stars in Life, a painting of Scott Hamilton and Bones , leaping joyfully.
This painting, "Stars in Life" , celebrates cancer survival with courage, style, and zest. I painted it in late 1998 to wear to the Sacramento performance of "Stars on Ice", starring Scotty Hamilton who is a personal inspiration of mine, the world's most beloved figure skater, and a cancer survivor (having survived and apparently been cured of testicular cancer). Scotty is pictured on the right side of the painting , executing a characteristic leap above the ice. My beloved Bonesy, also a cancer survivor (having survived and apparently been cured of a Mast Cell cancer), executes a leap of his own on the other side. A few months later, Bones was diagnosed with another cancer , anal gland apocrine adenocarcinoma, which, with treatment from the UCD VMTH and loving home care from me, he survived in courage and grace for over a year, finally asking and receiving a peaceful exit on Easter , 2002.
Stars on Ice continues to be the world's greatest performing troupe of artistic figure skating, providing an artistic performance in every way equal to the best of ballet and modern dance combined. The current schedule is at <www.starsonice.com>.
