I wrote this ten years ago (1993). at which time Apple and IBM were collaborating on the first Power PC RISC chip. I suppose I could claim that the pentultimate line is predictive of the Mac OS X, but as usual, I was just having some fun.

THE BALLAD OF MAC AND DOS

(with appologies to Rudyard Kipling)

by Pam Green , © 1993

Oh, Mac is Mac and DOS is DOS :
Their users stand apart,
As each declares the other's OS
More worthless than a fart.
Now Apple and IBM unite,
Setting aside their hates,
The greater enemy to oppose,
The dreaded, despotic Gates.

Oh Mac is Mac and DOS is DOS :
Their users always fight,
Till the Goddess commands that all Shutdown,
Recording her final byte.
When Mac and DOS contend no more,
Their rivalry dissipates,
And even UNIX becommeth kind,
When entered through Heaven's Gates.
