My precious puppy Keya and me in a rocking chair in our front yard. This was taken after the first of her two hip surgeries and thus within a month or so of her death. She suffered liver failure several days after her second surgery, the result of a rare reaction to Halothane, the best anesthesia available at that time. The surgeries were done at UC Davis Vet School by one of the foremost orthopedic surgeons of the time. Without surgery , it was believed Keya would have been crippled by hip dysplasia, and the surgeries should have given her back normal hips and wonderful quality of life. Instead and against all odds, the result was death in the prime of her puppyhood.
I loved this precious girl with all my heart .
