This is the epitaph I wrote for my beloved friend and pluperfect partner, Bones. The French version was written first, inspired by Cyrano de Bergerac's self-epitaph as written by Edmund Rostand.

Gentle, faithful, loving friend, Courageous soul unto the end. Here lie the bones of "Bones," More perfect dog than words can tell, Who did it all And did all well ! |
