A little song about the great mythical winged stallion Pegasus, as Buddy Holly might have written it. (This was actually inspired by a Quantum Leap episode in which the young Buddy is a minor character but gets his life changed while composing a song to a favorite pig, "Piggy Sue".)

(My verses actually only match part of the music, the part I remembered.)

PEGASUS

Pegasus, Pegasus,
Winged stallion, gift of Zeus,
Golden bridled for my use,
My Pegasus !

Proud I ride, thy bounding stride,
Soaring , glorying, godlike glide,
Til gadfly's sent to sting thy hide,
Rebuke my pride !

At that sting, buck and fling,
I, falling, calling , bid thee wing
Back to that PiËrian spring
Where poets sing !

Free, unbridled, great cayuse,
