Poems and Thoughts    by Frank Maurer

[Return to Poems and Thoughts index page]

P. minimus.

Oh, a tiny bird suddenly flitted in under the eave,
Working back and forth against the wall
To harvest spiders and their captured prey.
Indeed, a 'large' predator harvesting
Another smaller predator with its prey.
Such is the life of the minuscule Bushtit, P. minimus.

(P. is the genus Psaltriparus.)
