Our National Reflecting Pool. Our beautiful national reflecting pool; Why. suddenly so green with algae? Our 'One-in-Charge' claims great pool knowledge. But a shallow body of water needs flow. To paint it a 'patriotic-deep-flag-blue,' Acts as a solar cooker and algae love warmth. To leave supply pipes dormant for eight weeks And then, unflushed, to suddenly turn them back on, Gushes out a breeding-ground's-worth of algae. Of course there are normal populations Of visiting ducks and geese producing their waste. But it's that 'solar-cooker-blue' that clinches 'the deal.' Also, by adding so much H2O2, algecide, perhaps The sealer (bonding) is breaking loose? Or it might be Hydrostatic pressure coming from beneath?
